Happy Birthday, Joseph Morgan! Here Are 10 Reasons We Love You

We haven’t known him for very long, but we’re already pretty much in love with Joseph Morgan (Klaus). Instead of just coasting on the whole “hot-guy-with-an-accent” thing he has going on, Joseph rises above in oh so many ways. So on this, the day of his 30th birthday, we offer this tribute to his amazingness with 10 things we love about him.

.

10. He’s a hot guy… with an accent. Are we shallow? Yes. But with someone this good looking, we don’t really care. Besides, we don’t love him just for his blue-green eyes and Welsh accent…
.
9. Let me call you sweetheart. Since we’re kind of Klaus obsessed at the moment, we truly adore the way Joseph stays in character via Twitter: “And for those of you who don’t like surprises… Too bad sweethearts ;)” Chilling, much?
.
8. He’s not leaving us high and dry. Since we’ve nothing but a TVD-less summer to look forward to, we need something to fill our time with. Luckily, we’ll get to glimpse more of J.Morgan when he appears in this upcoming flick Immortals. Hopefully, shirtless.
.
7. Speaking of shirtless… We weren’t positive we’d see Klaus in the Season 2 finale of The Vampire Diaries. Boy, were we wrong. We saw more of the evil vamp than ever before… because he was totally bare chested in his first scene. Thanks, Joseph, for not being too shy for that one.
.
6. He’s gives good insight. Wetpaint was lucky enough to score an interview with Mr. Morgan, and he did not disappoint. Yes, his accent was sexy, but his thoughtful commentary on Klaus as a character was even better. “I feel like, as someone so old, he has kind of a childlike enthusiasm when it comes to certain things, even some things that are very painful for other people,” he told us.

.

5. Well researched. A lore-heavy show like TVD doesn’t require its actors to be vampire experts, but Joseph has proven that it certainly helps. Want his list of favorite vampire books and movies? Click here and here.
.
4. He has a big back catalogue. We feel so ignorant that Joseph hasn’t been on our radar until now. He’s been in tons of movies, including many that require him to wear a toga. Please enjoy this clip of him in Ben Hur.
.
3. Don’t fear the ripper. While he wasn’t sure initially how long he wanted to commit to being on TVD, Joseph told Wetpaint that watching the scene where Damon rips out Mason’s heart made him excited to explore similar opportunities with Klaus, “I thought, ‘Oh my god. Okay, this could be really interesting.’ If they’ll let me do things like that, if [Klaus] is going to go to those places, then this is something that I’m really interested in exploring.” We’re so pleased he’s decided to stay.
.
2. The face of an angel, the heart of a demon. Joseph knows how to play to his strengths. While many fans of The Vampire Diaries books envisioned Klaus older, swarthier, insert-your-adjective-here-er, Joseph proved that nothing’s scarier than someone who looks so heavenly but is in reality a total hellion.
.
1. Awesome cause. We love a cutie with a cause, and Joseph is certainly no exception. Much like Candice Accola did for her own b-day, Joseph is using his birthday to spread the word about his favorite charity, Positive Women, which works to empower women in Swaziland.
